Drip Pipe - Irrigation for Beds and Hedges

Watering hedges and beds with drip pipe with integrated drippers

A drip pipe is used to water beds, hedges or other plantings over a wider area. A drip pipe has water outlets at regular intervals. The water pressure is reduced by the injected labyrinths so that water comes out at each outlet. As a rule, 100 metres of drip pipe can be used per irrigation circuit. Approximately 3 metres of drip pipe are necessary per square metre of bed, as the drip pipe should be laid at a distance of 30 cm. Ground hooks are used to fix the drip pipe to the ground. With elbows and T-pieces you can branch the drip pipe and lay it around corners. The pipes can then be covered with bark mulch.

Drip pipe in various designs - installation above-ground or underground

Drip pipes are designed for 16 & 17 mm pressure fittings. For the installation of drip pipe, push or screw fittings are used. You can choose between different qualities. For above-ground installation, cheaper drip pipe without root protection can be used. For underground installation, higher quality products should be the preferred option. The drippers are then better suited for underground installation thanks to anti-siphon and root ingrowth protection. The use of the right drippers will guarantee many years of service. The companies Hunter, Rain Bird and Netafim offer high-quality drip pipe in roll lengths of 25, 50 or 100 m.

Diameter of drip pipe - compatibility with Gardena

With the 16 mm drip pipe from our product range, you can water your plants without soaking the entire soil in the garden. The drip pipe is made of plastic and has integrated drippers. At the end, the drip pipe is closed with a plug. You can use drip pipes from Gardena with fittings from DVS Beregnung as our fittings are compatible. You can also connect drip pipes from Hunter, Rain Bird or Netafim to a Gardena irrigation system. The wall thickness varies slightly from manufacturer to manufacturer, the external diameter and the rigidity of the products determine the two dimensions: 16 mm and 17 mm.

Two kinds of fittings for drip pipe: push fitting and and screw fitting

Black drip pipe (part number starting with ZI-) is installed with 16 mm push fittings. This pipe is tighter and slightly narrower compared to the brown drip pipe versions from Rain Bird, Hunter or Netafim. The brown drip pipe uses the brown 17 mm push fittings. Both drip pipe versions (16 mm and 17 mm) can be installed with screw fittings (part number starting with ZZ-TC). When installing the pipes, make sure that you cut the pipe between two drippers. This is because if you want to insert a T-piece, for example, just where a dripper has been cut, it will not work. Since the drippers are spaced approx. 30 cm apart, you can cut the pipe approx. 15 cm behind the last dripper.
