Spherag Adapter 4-20 mA 2 Channels ATX – adapter for two 4-20 mA sensors

ATX adapter for connecting two 4-20 mA output sensors to the Spherag ATLAS X. Integrates standard soil moisture, pressure, flow and level sensors directly into your irrigation control system.

The Spherag 4-20 mA adapter connects two current-loop sensors to the ATLAS X irrigation controller. It lets you use standard industrial sensors instead of being tied to one manufacturer's measurement hardware.

What the adapter is for

The Spherag ATLAS X has a sensor input designed for Spherag's own sensors. The 4-20 mA adapter extends that input to the industry standard: any sensor with a 4-20 mA current loop output can be connected, regardless of make.

That matters for established farms. If you already have measurement equipment in the field, switching to Spherag doesn't mean replacing it.

Typical sensors

  • Soil moisture sensors — demand-based irrigation instead of timer control
  • Pressure sensors — operating pressure monitoring, pipe burst detection
  • Flow meters — consumption tracking and water abstraction records
  • Level sensors — monitoring cisterns, buffer tanks and fertiliser tanks
  • Weather sensors — temperature, humidity, solar radiation

Why 4-20 mA?

The 4-20 mA current loop is the most robust analogue standard in industrial and agricultural technology. Because the information sits in the current rather than the voltage, long cable runs and voltage drop don't corrupt the reading — which matters when the sensor sits in the middle of the crop and the controller at the field edge.

A second advantage: the zero point is 4 mA, not 0. A broken cable is therefore clearly distinguishable from a genuine reading of zero and is detected as a fault.

Frequently asked questions

How many sensors can I connect to one adapter?

Two. The adapter has two independent channels.

Does the sensor have to be a Spherag sensor?

No. That's exactly what the adapter is for: any sensor with a 4-20 mA output can be integrated, regardless of manufacturer.

Do I need a subscription for the adapter?

The adapter itself needs no subscription. The ATLAS X it runs on requires an active annual subscription for data transmission and cloud access.

How does this differ from the Spherag I²C pressure sensor?

The I²C pressure sensor (ZZ-SP-DS-210055) connects directly to the ATLAS X and is a finished component. The 4-20 mA adapter is an interface for third-party sensors — it measures nothing itself, it makes other sensors connectable.
