The diagonal reinforcement used by REHAU utilizes two counter-rotating reinforcement threads at the thread angle. These are applied to the inner hose and lead to a balance of forces. The compressive strength of the garden hose is largely determined by the spacing of the reinforcement threads as well as their strength.

The production of garden hoses with an optimal thread angle determines that the garden hose behaves neutrally under water pressure. Length change and diameter change are minimal, twisting (torsion) or twisting of the garden hose is prevented by the diagonal reinforcement.
