Sand separator prefilter

A hydrocyclone is a prefilter used to remove solid particles and sand from water. The water enters tangentially into the wide, conical part of the filter, which increases the flow velocity along the inner wall. Due to the high centrifugal force, sand and other solid particles collect in the drainage reservoir, while the purified water exits upwards through the central vertical pipe. Due to the high velocity and change in direction of the flow, heavier contaminants settle on the walls and fall into the lower part of the housing.

The use of polymer materials makes hydrocyclones significantly more wear-resistant than metal versions, especially in the lower part of the funnel (sand trap zone), where the mixture of sand, solids, and water exerts the greatest mechanical stress on the filter housing.

The plastic hydrocyclone is compact, lightweight, yet robust and durable. It can be easily combined in groups to increase flow capacity and expand the range of applications. The hydrocyclone is installed before the fine filter – disc or screen filter.

It is suitable for water sources with a high content of solids, sand, and other mechanical suspended solids: well water, open water, storage tanks with a high solids content.
