DIVING PUMPS

Submersible pumps are suitable for water supply from a water tank or larger storage container. As submersible pumps are installed in the water, the storage tank should be installed in a way that the water cannot heat up too much in order to protect the pump from overheating. In addition, the submersible pump should be protected from running dry by a float switch which stops the pump when the water level is too low. If a submersible pump is used, the water tank should be positioned lower than the plants to be irrigated so that the water cannot escape from the tank due to the hydrostatic gradient. Alternatively, a backstop must be used.
The right dimension of the pump is also important: the smaller the project, the less water must be pumped.
